Israel Rosenfield in Paris.
|
This is the first issue of SOGLITUDES .
The first issue focuses on thresholds in memory and how perception stabilizes itself, how the schizophrenic lacks flexibility in understanding the variaions in his own personality, and how perceived motion is an illusion, how colors are a fiction of the brain, and how the brain invents itself. These ideas come from Israel Rosenfield who is being interviewed here, and who has contributed an article of his own about the fleeting present. I added a report of the CASCA 2015 in Quebec, and an ad for Israel's new book. Israel Rosenfield is a scientific writer and professor who knows a lot about memory, DNA, epigenetics and tulips. He is neither a genuine New Yorker nor un vrai Parisien, but he is definitely both. His true genius does not lie in neuroscience or memory studies or robotics, but in his cello. How thresholds are connected to music will be the topic of a future issue. |
